Job Description

The Alfresco Experience Design team seeks an innovative and highly motivated XD Design Manager to lead a team of senior and lead designers innovating on the Alfresco Digital Business Platform - a platform that enables enterprises to rapidly design, develop, and deploy critical business solutions.

Experience Designers at Alfresco are talented product designers who look at the "problem space" holistically and through the eyes of our users. They are product design partners who help determine "what problem/s are we solving...and why", then ideate on how to solve them by gathering user information, assimilating and analyzing, and ideating on concepts - cross-functionally with user research, product management, and development. They collaborate on, then visualize concepts, using a variety of infographics, such as galaxy maps, journey maps, heat maps, task flows, etc., and iteratively progress to higher and higher fidelity artifacts. As the multidisciplinary core of our design practice, UX Designers are expected to collaboratively and creatively shape and drive the overall customer experience.

In this role, you will be a hands-on manager, leading a team of seasoned UX designers.

What you will do

Lead the UX design team, encouraging and enabling their continued development and keeping the XD Director updated with progress, and challenges

Collaborate with management and you team to develop individually tailored development goals and strategies

Cultivate a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between business, technology, and experience

Advocate for and follow user-centered design

Take a lead role in establishing a consistent experience across all features and products and ensuring the designers' work incorporates, and expands, our XD standards

Contribute to the architecture of near and long term XD visions for features and product lines across platforms

Work closely with cross-functional teams and collaborate with product managers, researchers, developers and other designers to define and produce solutions for real customer problems on your assigned products

Create and rapidly iterate on ideas in order to develop them via storyboards/journey maps, user flows, mock-ups, and prototypes, or other methods as needed

Partner with user research and PM to design, develop, and participate in user research throughout the design cycle: upfront exploration, in-process validation, and end-cycle usability and/or benchmarking

Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes or UX specs that communicate high-level design strategies and detailed interaction behaviors

Support your design work using all available insights including customer feedback, quantitative data and metrics, and usability findings

Contribute to, and maintain, effective specifications and design patterns

Stay on the cutting edge of what's new in technology and user experience, experimenting with applying new technologies and interaction patterns to customer problems


What we're looking for......

Bachelor's, or equivalent degree, in Design, HCI, or related field, or equivalent professional experience within the design field

An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating great user-centered design solutions and patterns, especially for enterprise applications; mobile a plus!

Proven track record presenting to and influencing people, from other designers to senior executive management

A well-respected leader, with great people insights and a passion for bringing out the best in your team members

A knack for anticipating your internal customers' needs and staying on top of - or better yet, one step ahead of - those needs

An understanding of how design impacts development and vice versa, along with a knack for constructing designs that are technically feasible

Proven time management skills

Proficiency in a variety of design tools, e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Axure

Impressive communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

5+ years design experience

Nice if you also have.....

Visual design skills - full stack design skills

Ability to prototype
