Job Description:

The WO Streaming and WO On Demand team is looking for a Technical Writer to own the creation and maintenance of our online end user documentation and training materials that ensure all customers can understand and successfully use our products. We are constantly upgrading our products and are looking for a passionate and innovative writer to help produce clear, high quality end-user content, that addresses the challenges of working within a complex application. This position will challenge you to see the software through the eyes of our customers, resulting in tools in which our customer's understand and can master. Every team member is a critical part of the design and implementation process, and in this role, you'll be responsible for creating industry-leading content for multiple versions of complex, business-critical software applications.

Here is what you'll be doing:
  • Research, author, and publish outstanding user-facing content (help documentation, in-depth help topics, release notes, user guides, training videos) as well as developer-facing content (API documentation, technical notes) under tight deadlines and short product cycles.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Development, and Technical Support, as well as with writers from other teams to develop content that helps our clients succeed with WideOrbit software.
  • Manage documentation projects end-to-end including monitoring release cycles and identifying features requiring new or updated end-user documentation, creating the documentation with assistance from subject matter experts, and publishing the documentation.
  • Identify areas to be improved, and advocate for the user during the design and development phases for new features.
  • Become a knowledgeable user for your product areas.
  • Collaborate with training, implementation, and support teams to improve the content ecosystem.
  • Deliver professional, accurate, and (most of all) useful content when it's needed most by our users.

Here is what we are looking for:
  • Bachelor's Degree in technical writing, communication, or computer science or a related field is preferred. However, candidates with equivalent on-the-job experience will also be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience translating technical and development specifications into easy-to-read content for users.
  • Experience reading, writing, and troubleshooting XML and HTML-based content. Can take the initiative to research solutions online and come up with creative solutions to content problems.
  • Experience with online help production, information architecture, and single-sourcing concepts.
  • Confident, professional, and effective communicator (both verbally and in written form) that can work with all levels and departments in an organization in a clear, concise, and articulate way.
  • Know how to be resourceful to resolve problems and seek answers independently while raising your hand and engaging internal resources when you identify limitations about what you're able to accomplish independently.
  • Experience in the digital broadcasting industry (TV, radio/streaming, advertising) or digital advertising industry is preferred.
  • Proven ability to create solutions for complex documentation problems with minimal supervision.
  • Experience driving projects to completion and overcoming inevitable unexpected project obstacles.
  • Experience working with backlog and agile management systems (e.g., Jira).

This position will be based in our Vancouver, WA; Bellevue, WA; or Lynnwood, WA office.
