Poshmark is seeking a Senior Manager Technical Accounting, Reporting and Policy to join the finance department and leverage your technical accounting and operational accounting skills while working closely with Poshmark's senior leadership team (CFO, COO, VP/ Controller and department VP's) to drive reporting and technical excellence and supporting the development of practical business processes and solutions.
Poshmark's Accounting and Finance team is growing very quickly, presenting excellent leadership opportunities for accounting and finance people with stand-out experience and skill sets. You'll function at the heart of our Finance department, managing the preparation of required filings, and guiding the team on technical accounting matters.The Senior Manager Technical Accounting, Reporting and Policy will also be responsible for assisting in technical accounting projects including research and implementation of the new revenue recognition an lease accounting standards that will be adopted next year and will also own and improve the Poshmark's internal and external financial reporting processes.
The role also provides the opportunity for you to mentor and guide junior members of the team, thus enhancing your Finance pedigree. We're looking for an energized and motivated accounting leader with a proven capability to develop strong working relationships with Finance personnel, auditors, cross-functional partners and various levels of management throughout the company. Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary technical accounting resource for the company
  • Provide input on complex and non-routine transactions, primarily focusing on revenue recognition (ASC 606), business combinations, investments and software capitalization
  • Directly manage third-party valuation experts, consultants, and staff, supporting non-routine transactions
  • Assist with a cross-functional transition to comply with ASC 606 and ASC 842 guidance
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and analyses of all equity accounts, payroll equity, and stock-based compensation, consistent with ASC 718 (FAS 123R)
  • Research and evaluate the accounting consequences of potential transactions and present relevant accounting guidance throughout all levels of the organization
  • Analyze new and proposed accounting standards issued by the SEC and the FASB to determine disclosure implications and impact on the organization.
  • Devise and recommend working solutions.
  • Assist with establishing the necessary framework consistent with SEC & other filings, including the preparation of disclosures and pro forma financial information
  • Coordinate deliverables from various internal personnel for the completion of our internal and external reporting, financial statements and disclosures
  • Support the financial statement review process with executives, department managers and external auditors
  • Oversee the preparation of statements, including:
    • Cash flow statements
    • Stockholder statements: equity, earnings per share, share-based compensation, etc.
  • Ensure and document compliance with internal policies, SOX controls, and regulations relating to US GAAP and SEC requirements
  • Provide a broad scope of support pertaining to merger and acquisition cycles,
  • including pre-deal diligence, purchase price accounting, internal control execution, and integration planning
  • Partner with appropriate personnel to prepare new accounting policies and/or updates to existing policies in response to operational changes, or new accounting requirements
  • Prepare and present training on relevant accounting topics to our personnel
  • Support ad hoc accounting projects for the VP, Controller and various teams throughout the company
  • Develop and maintain excellent, collaborative working relationships with external auditors and cross-functional internal teams (Marketplace, Community,
  • Marketing, Operations, Corporate FP&A, Legal and IT)
Desired Skills
  • A CPA license
  • 8-10+ years accounting leadership experience in a public company
  • Experience with a Big 4 or regional accounting firm
  • Proficiency with a broad set of technical accounting topics and in-depth knowledge of accounting principles
  • Deep knowledge of SEC rules and regulations
  • Significant experience in the preparation and management of all required SEC
  • filings and the quarterly earnings release process (Form 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, Def 14A Proxy)
  • Experience researching, analyzing, and documenting new accounting guidance and the accounting treatment of issues
  • Mastery of accounting principles and practices (U.S .GAAP), controls, analyses and reconciliation
  • The ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to both Finance and non-Finance personnel, interpreting these issues in terms of business implications
  • Familiarity with accounting and financial reporting systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, to facilitate interaction through all levels of the organization
  • Ability to quickly learn and utilize reporting and other management
