In this job you will:
  • Operate, maintain, and trouble-shoot Linux RedHat/CentOS systems within an enterprise-server environment.
  • Install, maintain and ensure the reliability and security of computer operating system software, third party products, and server hardware infrastructure components.
  • Architect and deploy an enterprise Puppet automation system.
  • Implement O/S patches.
  • Maintain and monitor production systems.
  • Provide 24x7x365 On-Call support as part of a larger team.
  • Optimize system performance to ensure the fastest response time and system availability.
  • Provide backup support for our VMware environment.
  • Provide backup support for our SAN infrastructure.
  • Maintain best practices and procedures for patch management and operating system upgrades.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems with servers, services and associated software and hardware.
  • Use strong communication skills to assist customers and management interaction will be required during incidents, changes, and outages.
  • Develop, implement, manage and maintain procedures with guidelines for multiple platforms to meet security standards put forth by the security team.
  • Review current system and make technical/process recommendations for improving efficiency including development of scripts and automation to improve operations productivity.
You bring to the table
  • 5+ years of senior level Linux administration or Linux architecture experience in a software environment
  • Deep understanding of PHP development
    • Strong expertise of LAMP stack
  • Strong experience with Puppet and/or other automation tools
  • Progressive experience in Systems Engineering preferred
  • Ability to adapt to change.
  • Advance problems toward resolution despite obstacles, ambiguity or uncertainty and surfaces problems and issues "before" projects are derailed
  • Ability to design simple solutions to resolve complex problems and/or design flaws in existing functionality
