Sales Tax Accountant

WideOrbit is looking to add a Sales Tax Accountant to our rapidly growing finance team. This role will report to our Sr. Director of Tax and support our domestic transaction tax functions.
In this key position, the Sales Tax Accountant will assist in all areas of sales & use tax and property tax including, but not limited to compliance, audits and research. You will also assist with identifying and implementing systems / process improvements and other special projects as needed. As the tax group is small, this position offers growth potential into other areas of interest.
Here is what you'll be doing:
  • Assist with multi-state sales & use tax and property tax compliance and audits
  • Prepare other tax-related filings which include but are not limited to: business licenses, annual reports, and business registrations.
  • Prepare and perform all monthly tax reconciliation of sales and use tax transaction data, review accounting transactions to support liabilities for timely compliance reporting
  • Prepare monthly tax account reconciliation
  • Perform sales and use tax research.
  • Assist with income tax audits
  • Complete special tax projects as needed
Here is what we're looking for:
  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Tax and/or Finance.
  • 2+ years of multi-state sales & use tax experience
  • Proficient in performing tax research and recommending solution to issues
  • Proficient in MS Office applications...Excel (advanced skills required), Word, etc
  • Experience with tax software is preferred
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Exceptional communicator, with a passion for organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving
  • Demonstrated ability to be consultative, persuasive and diplomatic
  • Able to build professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders by using a consultative communication style
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and flexible to change.
This position will be based in our San Francisco, CA office.
