The revenue accounting team is responsible for supporting the sales and contracting process, establishing and executing accounting policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of worldwide revenue. The Revenue Analyst will report to the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting to implement operational and accounting processes to support the company's growth, exercise judgment and make critical decisions to support sales with deal structuring, and participate in the revenue close process.
Responsibilities:
  • Play an integral role in Quote-to-Cash process by reviewing and analyzing customer orders and summarizing key transaction terms for revenue recognition issues under ASC 606 rules in partnership with legal, sales ops, and sales
  • Ensure revenue is recognized in compliance with relevant US GAAP Revenue Recognition rules & MapR Revenue Recognition policy
  • Participate in monthly close and control processes for revenue and related accounts including deferred commissions, record journal entries, and complete account reconciliations
    • Calculate and present key financial metrics and explain business reasons for trends and variances
  • Ensure that the various reporting systems and source data are accurate and reconciled
  • Partner with the cross-functional teams to create efficient, scalable processes for producing monthly, quarterly, and yearly revenue numbers, and assist in identifying and implementing process improvements
    • Assist in implementing systems and policies to enhance internal controls and process efficiencies
  • Participation in special projects as assigned
  • Help implement SAP RevSym
  • Assist in the preparation of supporting documents for annual audit .
  • Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity

Qualifications:
  • BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance
    • 2-3 years of experience in Revenue Operations in the SaaS or Software industry with emphasis on contracts review, Revenue Recognition and Revenue Reporting
  • Proficient knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel (lookups, pivot tables, charts, graphs, etc.)
  • Knowledge of US GAAP (ASC 606) and internal controls.
  • Experience with NetSuite and Salesforce preferred.
  • Ability to identify/analyze issues and provide recommendations to management.
  • Ability to proactively identify process gaps and make improvements.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task .
  • A desire to learn new skills and responsibilities and thrive in a fast-paced growth environment.
  • A positive and fun attitude with a strong initiative to learn and ability to work effectively as a member of a team with all levels of management
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Big 4 public accounting and CPA preferred
