Product Storyteller

Seattle | WA | United States

The Role

We're searching for a brilliant Product Storyteller to join our team and fill a critical gap on our fast-growing Product Marketing team. Join the team in this Marketing role with a heavy splash of product/technical expertise, reporting to the Director of Product Marketing.

The Product Storyteller role at Outreach is an incredibly high-impact, high-importance role on our hiring roadmap. You will come on in this role to help us tell that elusive "middle funnel" story, creating the powerful product story that is more detailed than thought leadership, but more agnostic than sales enablement. If that sentence made sense to you, you are perfect for this job! This position has been identified as mission critical to our strategic vision. Don't be surprised if our executive team stands and applauds on your first day. It's a lot of responsibility but also a giant opportunity-seriously, how many product storytellers do you know? This job is an opportunity to blaze a completely new content trail in a created position that is sure to be uber-hot a year from now. The team member we add will be a combination genius storyteller, brilliant strategist, and product/tech junkie who is fascinated by taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and most importantly, why it matters. There is tons of room for growth for the right person.

Natural curiosity is a must for this role. If you spent a lot of time watching Mythbusters or How Stuff Works, this job is a great fit for you. Must be a born innovator with an entrepreneurial spirit, excited by crafting a created position from scratch, rather than feeling intimidated by it. Must be a brilliant content strategist, able to string together the "big idea" story from a seemingly disparate set of new product features, and find the human element in the features and functionality. Must be a superstar collaborator, juggling a lot of requests and being proactive about setting the content direction with conviction and expertise.

Your Daily Adventures Will Include
    • Work with the Product, Marketing, and Content Teams to build a Product Storytelling plan and figure out how that will disseminate across video, social, blogs, eBooks, etc
    • Learn the greater vision of the Marketing department and map the product storytelling strategy to that vision
    • Create an editorial calendar of heavy-hitting product storytelling pieces that will light a fire with our target audience
    • Working with Product Work closely with our product team to understand the interests, opportunities and challenges inherent in telling the product story
    • Understand the product in enough depth to be able to write intelligently and compellingly. You don't have to be able to rebuild it from scratch, but you need to be super clear on the benefits and the underscoring "why" behind the product roadmap
    • Putting into Practice Conceive and deliver a product storytelling program that hits business objectives and moves the needle on our product narrative
    • Produce/commission a vibrant cadence of high-quality, super relevant product story pieces
    • Seamlessly fill the middle funnel, collaborating to make sure the content created fits the appropriate personas, scenarios, etc.

Basic Qualifications
    • Experienced b2b marketer with 2-4 years of content marketing or product marketing experience, preferably in technology
    • Love to tell stories and have excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Unrelenting curiosity; you have more questions than answers, and that's great!
    • Team player: organized and pumped to work with multiple stakeholders
    • Self-motivated and self-managed: able to think independently, learn quickly, move ahead, while still keeping everyone in the loop
    • Overwhelming desire to succeed and grow in your career
    • Inspired by working with a fun, ambitious, passionate team in a fast-paced startup environment
    • BA/BS degree preferred

Why You'll Love It Here

• 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage for full-time employees
• Unlimited PTO (and people actually use it!)
• 401k to help you save for the future
• Company-organized and personal paid volunteer days to support the community that supports us
• Fun company and team outings because we play just as hard as we work
• Diversity and inclusion programs that promote employee resource groups like OWN (Outreach Women's Network)
• A parental leave program that includes not just extended time off but options for a paid night nurse, food delivery, gradual return to work, and the Gottman Institute's Bringing Home Baby course for new parents
• Employee referral bonuses to encourage the addition of great new people to the team
