MapR seeks a savvy, customer-first technologist to drive a wide range of initiatives as part of the Product Marketing team at MapR. This Senior Product Marketing Manager will primarily be responsible for outbound activities targeting CxOs, enterprise architects, data scientists, and other data stakeholders within organizations. The successful candidate will build and deliver content to educate the field and customers around what it takes to turn data into value better than the competition.

The role requires a passion for exploring modern technologies - including but not limited to AI, Cloud, Containers, Analytics, and IoT - at both the business and technical levels. This position adds to a technically-oriented Product Marketing team responsible for messaging, positioning, sales enablement, and key initiatives to deliver continued success for MapR customers.

Detailed Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Field, Product Management, and others to come up with appropriate positioning and collateral to support communications for a wide range of customer use cases, including those around AI, Cloud, Containers, Analytics, and IoT.
  • Drive and assist with Go-To-Market strategy, product launches, customer meetings, tradeshows, and related industry events.
  • Create and deliver use-case and industry-specific collateral to yield increased sales productivity.
  • Develop written content (e.g., blogs, whitepapers, datasheets) explaining market trends, technologies, solutions, and the MapR value proposition.
  • Develop strong relationships with cross-functional teams including Sales, product management, corporate marketing, engineering, and especially with customers and other external individuals who feed the MapR Community.
  • Some travel required (up to 20%).

Skills and Background:
  • 5-8 years of experience.
  • Data-driven product marketer, preferably with a background in software development, data science, or technical presales; open source and/or enterprise software experience preferred.
  • Extremely comfortable in front of customers.
  • Domain knowledge in at least one of the following areas: AI, Cloud, Containers, Analytics, and IoT. Experience in more than one of these areas preferred.
  • Ability to pick up new technologies quickly and to build relevant content around it (e.g., powerpoint decks, datasheets, whitepapers).
  • Experience with Big Data related technologies (e.g., NoSQL, Pub/Sub Systems) highly desirable.
  • Enthusiastic about collaborating cross-functionally across the organization.
  • Strong and friendly communication skills, both written and verbal; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, work under tight deadlines and get the most from limited resources.
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or field/work experience relevant for this position; a graduate degree is a strong plus.
