About You...

Calm under pressure and a good communicator you'll also be supporting the wider IT team handling user queries and supporting a number of Operational services and new projects.

About the Team...

The Infrastructure Operations team is a small team based at the company's Maidenhead Office. As part of the wider Global IT team, its primary focus is on maintaining and developing the companies Production & Infrastructure services. The role involves working with the Wider IT team, Engineering and Marketing teams, supporting our core services, build services and web presence.

Your Impact...

Alfresco seeks a DevOps Engineer to work within our Infrastructure Operations team. Responsibilities will include helping architect, deploy and support the company's operational systems and services. You'll also likely be working with suppliers and vendors to ensure the high level of service required from Alfresco's key systems.

You will participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning, monitoring, maintenance and documentation is consistent with the company goals, business group requirements and industry best practices.


Essential Skills:

  • Solid understanding of Linux with experience of RHEL / CentOS 6 & 7

  • Experience of Continuous Integration tools and DevOps concepts

  • Experience of scripting/development (e.g. JavaScript, bash, Perl, Python or Ruby)

  • Experience of installing, maintaining and monitoring databases.
  • Experience with Git or other version control tools and understanding or version control principles

  • Working knowledge of Cloud and Hosting systems, for example:

    • AWS

    • Rackspace

    • Heroku

    • Digital Ocean

  • Working knowledge of most or all of the following technologies:

    • LAMP,
      Java, Tomcat, DNS (Bind), DHCP, iptables or firewalld, SELinux,
      Revision Control (Git and SVN), LDAP, SSL, Varnish, Nginx, OpsView
      (Nagios), JIRA.

Useful "nice to have" Skills:

  • Understanding of Change control and Incident Management

  • Understanding of automated Configuration Management systems, e.g.

    • Puppet / Chef / Ansible.

  • Architecting / Deploying new systems and services

  • Orchestration Tools, e.g.

    • AWS CloudFormation / Terraform / Packer

  • Understanding of ITIL or similar service management frameworks

  • Familiarity with networking concepts and with Cisco, Meraki or similar devices

  • Experience working with Virtual Private Networks

  • Understanding of Docker / Kubernetes

  • RPM Packaging Experience

  • Experience of managing and maintaining VMWare virtualized environments

  • Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory

  • Experience of maintaining, managing and deploying Windows, Mac and Linux desktops

  • Any exposure or experience with Alfresco products

  • Experience of Windows System Administration
