As the Head of Communications for Grove, you will manage the way we tell our story both with the outside world and within our own company. You will set strategy and execute the strategy for consumer and business PR as well as any government and health advocacy. Collaborating closely with the CEO and executives on the Growth and influencer team, you will be empowered to define strategy as well as bring in the right people and agency partners to drive awareness and affinity.

Despite having reached a scale with well over 500k lifetime customers and thousands of influencers active in our community, we have not invested in traditional PR or a formal communications platform. We believe this is an exceptional opportunity for the company, and you will be positioned as the owner of that initiative, with the resources and buy-in to create meaningful results.

Specific Responsibilities


    • Position Grove as a thought leader in the evolution of CPG towards healthier, more consumer centric products
    • Develop and execute a media relations strategy to garner message-rich feature coverage in target media outlets for both consumer and business audiences
    • Drive awareness of Grove Collaborative's health and sustainability focused mission
    • Create enthusiasm for the unique products we create under the Grove Collaborative brand
    • Build a high performance team to set us up for long term success, including agency partners
    • Work with our CEO and executive team to roll out consistent internal communications that help build
    • Drive content creation and content strategy with an eye towards supporting our overall brand footprint in the marketplace
    • Develop a long term calendar and a sense of how Grove can stay relevant across the year
    • Identify and orchestrate speaking opportunities for senior management at high-level conferences and events
    • Develop metrics that measure communications and media success and processes to scale our media platform




About You


    • 7-10+ years of professional experience, with experience creating and driving a press strategy for consumer driven brands. A combination of agency and in-house experience is preferred, though not required.
    • A strong track record of feature coverage in / established relationships with top tier print, online and national broadcast outlets. Sample targets include business press, i.e. The New York Times, Fortune and Fast Company, consumer / wellness publications like Real Simple and Well+Good; and broadcast including GMA, Today Show, etc
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, and the ability to frame, position and influence
    • Facility with both traditional and new media landscapes
    • Strong experience and understanding for how to partner with with agencies and other parties
    • An understanding of our customer and a passion for Grove's mission to help every family create a healthy, beautiful home
    • Excitement to partner with the rest of the executive team -- particularly the Head of Influencer Marketing, the VP Growth, and the CEO -- to build a successful long-term strategy
    • A willingness to push the company to take risks and try new things towards the goal of building a truly best-in-class communications platform
    • Above all else you want to help Grove further its mission and help more families make positive and healthy choices about the products they bring into their homes
