Couchbase is seeking a Marketing Director for its EMEA & APAC region, to play a vital role in our global sales & marketing team. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the right candidate will be a seasoned team player with excellent cross-functional leadership and influencing skills, a deep understanding of and practical experience executing successful marketing strategies to rapidly grow businesses, an excellent communicator and relationship-builder with Sales and Partners, and an outstanding track record of results.

S/he will be responsible for developing, adapting and executing highly effective marketing programs to increase market awareness, generate demand, accelerate pipeline, activate partners and grow sales within the region. This role will partner with key stakeholders including product management, business development, corporate marketing, sales, sales operations and legal to define and execute metrics-driven campaigns.

Responsibilities
  • Increase brand preference by increasing awareness in key customer segments (Enterprise, Mid-Market) though direct and indirect marketing activities.
  • Develop and execute a broad range of integrated inbound and outbound marketing campaigns, programs and promotions to acquire new customers, expand and retain the installed base, generate net new pipeline and accelerate sales opportunities already in pipeline, ensuring that all such activity is closely aligned to Sales priorities and selling motions.
  • Provide account-based marketing support for select key accounts.
  • Ensure that key customer successes are communicated and converted to references.
  • Develop marketing initiatives and co-marketing programs to generate pipeline with and through Partners in the region, including channel partners (Distributors, VARs, Service Providers, etc.) and ecosystem partners (technology alliance partners).
  • Provide sales tools, collateral, training and communications to maximize the effectiveness of the entire regional Sales community, including direct and indirect (Partner) sales teams.
  • Develop and manage the ecosystem of marketing agencies and partners in region, maximizing effectiveness and ROI of the assigned budget.
  • Lead the operational process for the EMEA & APAC Field Marketing team (budgets, forecasts, business & operational reviews, etc.) and ensure the integration of the EMEA & APAC marketing plan with other global plans and strategy.
  • Develop market and customer insights through data and analytics to optimize the effectiveness of the sales & marketing team in region.
  • Build, coach, motivate and develop a successful field marketing team.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • BA/BS degree in related field. MBA preferred.
  • Extensive marketing experience, preferably in a start-up/challenger environment.
  • An excellent understanding of Marketing functional disciplines.
  • Experience creating and implementing proven successful strategies for creating demand.
  • Strong collaboration & negotiation skills, showing ability to influence without ownership, gaining support and trust across the organization to achieve agreed upon business outcomes.
  • Excellent communicator with proven ability to clearly convey complex ideas and data in written, presentation and spoken formats to a variety of audiences, including sales, customers, channel partners, analysts and journalists.
  • Outstanding project management skills and the proven ability to manage multiple complex initiatives in parallel.
  • Strong people management capabilities, including acquisition of world-class talent, development and motivation of high-performance teams.
  • A personal style that is viewed as open-minded and collaborative.
