OVERVIEW
Mission Bio is a start-up located near San Francisco that is innovating technologies to analyze single cells within complex biological systems, revealing critical information not observable from bulk sample analysis. With proprietary microfluidic droplet technology, Mission Bio is developing research tools that allow high-throughput, single-cell nucleic acid characterization across a variety of research applications, including oncology and immunology.
DESCRIPTION
Mission Bio is looking for an electrical engineer to advance our microfluidic-based instrument. As a member of a small but critical engineering team, the electrical board and systems design engineer conceive, design and prototype various circuit boards that involve pneumatic, motion, and temperature control, data acquisition, system communication, and system level design of an entire Mission Bio's instrument. Activities also include firmware development, documentation, and vendor management. This person must be able to troubleshoot complex problems at the interface of hardware, software, and be committed to customer satisfaction.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, develop, implement, and test circuit boards, firmware, and electrical systems.
  • Develop related test fixtures and software for manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves electronics related system issues.
  • In charge of electrical engineering documentation and material specifications.
  • Design and conduct experiments to find optimal solutions.
  • Generate outward-facing analytical reports and regulatory documentation.

BROADER QUALIFICATIONS
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in EE and a minimum of 5 years industrial experience with scientific or medical instrumentation.
  • Demonstrate ability in analog and digital design, simulations, and implementation.
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting and resolving various EE issues.
  • Fast learning, hardworking, an exemplary team member, and a strong communicator.
  • Experience in coordination across teams, including R&D, manufacturing, quality, marketing, and support, as well as with vendors.
  • Experience in a start-up or in life sciences is a bonus.
