We are looking for a rock-star Director of Product Marketing who will serve as our Product Evangelist. You must be a database software expert and up-to-date on current trends driving the database market, ready to roll up your sleeves in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment and eager to collaborate cross-functionally across marketing, developer advocacy, product management and engineering. Can you drive the narrative and influence - even change - the perspectives of customers and industry analysts alike?

Responsibilities: At Couchbase you will play a critical role in fueling the growth of the company and enabling our teams to successfully compete for and win business via:
    • Market Intelligence: Understanding the pains, requirements, buying agendas and evaluation criteria of our key technical personas, including developers, DevOps, architects and technical leaders, in order to fine-tune messaging, position new capabilities, and optimize go-to-market strategy and execution
    • Competitive Intelligence: Understanding Couchbase and competitive products in order to effectively and convincingly differentiate Couchbase at both a feature and architectural level
    • Technical Product Marketing: Translating complex technical concepts into business and customer-oriented value propositions and establishing consistent, differentiated messaging in market; while guiding and advising content strategy, demand programs, product launches and sales enablement
    • Thought Leadership: Delivering thoughtful, provocative and differentiated Couchbase POV at events, on panels, to the press, to industry analysts, and broadly via blogs, white papers, etc.

Preferred Qualifications
    • 5+ years in technical sales, product management, or technical marketing with a database vendor, or as an industry analyst covering the database space
    • Direct exposure to Couchbase, DataStax/Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis, Aerospike or DynamoDB
    • Expertise in big data, cloud, containers, mobile and/or IoT technologies
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills (experience in public speaking a plus)
    • Solid teamwork, interpersonal, and relationship management skills
    • Ability to perform in a high-energy and highly demanding work environment where change is a constant and deadlines hit fast

Minimum Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, or commensurate experience
    • 10+ years experience in relational or NoSQL (non-relational) databases, including data modelling and database implementation
