Today we’re happy to announce two world-class executives have joined Lyft, bringing unique passion and expertise to the company.
Nilka Thomas is joining Lyft as VP of Talent and Inclusion, where she will oversee recruiting, inclusion and diversity, as well as employee relations for Lyft. Nilka will lead efforts to source and hire top talent, and ensure that inclusion and diversity efforts are seamlessly integrated from the earliest candidate touch points.
Nilka brings over two decades of experience to Lyft. She was most recently part of the team at Google, where she played an integral role in developing global recruitment efforts and business growth strategy, and helped implement diversity and talent initiatives across the Americas. She also oversaw Google’s underrepresented community engagement efforts, and worked with Alphabet portfolio companies to integrate a strong focus on inclusion and diversity at an early stage.
And joining Lyft as our new Director of Sustainability is Sam Arons, who will be overseeing Lyft’s sustainability and climate impact efforts. Lyft was one of the first companies to join former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s “We Are Still In” movement to pledge our commitment to the Paris Climate Accord. Shortly after, we outlined our Climate Impact Goals to do our part to address the threat posed by global climate change. Sam will play an essential part in helping Lyft achieve these goals — and make our long-term vision a reality.
Sam comes to Lyft after 10 years at Google where he developed the company’s sustainability efforts as Senior Lead for Energy & Infrastructure. Prior to his time with Google, Sam researched wind energy and plug-in vehicles at Williams College and UC Berkeley, respectively.
Lyft’s success is fueled by our talented team members and the values that bring us all together. As we continue to expand, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Nilka and Sam to the team!
