Celebrate the Fourth of July with Lyft!

Spending the Fourth of July in our nation’s capital is unlike any other Independence Day celebration. The District comes alive with locals and visitors flocking to DC to experience everything our capital has to offer, and Lyft wants to be your ride this Fourth of July.

Start your day at the National Independence Day Parade, then make your way to the National Mall to experience the annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival. The Capitol Fourth Concert is open to the public and is sure to be a hit this year, with John Stamos hosting, and a lineup that includes The Beach Boys. But the main event of every Fourth of July celebration is the fireworks show!

We’re sharing a few of our favorite spots around DC to enjoy fireworks this Fourth of July:

Mount Vernon

The home of President George Washington sits on top of a hill overlooking the Potomac River. The sprawling estate offers tours of the Washington Mansion and expansive grounds you are free to explore. On the Fourth of July, visitors at Mount Vernon enjoy a special Independence Day event that includes a daytime fireworks show followed by birthday cake!

Lady Bird Johnson Park

Lady Bird Johnson Park is located on the Potomac River, along George Washington Memorial Parkway. The site was personally selected by Lady Bird Johnson for its panoramic views of the DC skyline and offers a quieter spot outside of the city, with unobstructed views of the nighttime fireworks show over the National Mall.

POV Rooftop

Ascend to the W Hotel’s iconic rooftop lounge and bar for views of the White House and National Mall in a more upscale and trendy setting. Inspired by music, fashion, design, and cocktail culture, POV rooftop is the place to see and be seen this Fourth of July. Reserve your ticket and come dressed to impress to enjoy POV’s nighttime fireworks viewing party.

National Mall

Watching the annual nighttime Fourth of July fireworks beside the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, or Capitol Building is considered a time-honored tradition by many DC locals and visitors alike. As fireworks explode above you, there is no better viewing location than the National Mall, but be sure to arrive early to secure a spot!
